Sudoku Overtime · last updated 15 October 2026
Sudoku Overtime is a free browser game made by Joshua Hughes, a sole trader in the UK. You don't need an account and we never ask for your real name, email address or any other contact details.
What's stored on your device
The game saves a few things in your browser's local storage so they're there next time: your game name, avatar, best scores, sound setting and a random player ID. This never leaves your device unless you submit a score (below). Clearing your browser data removes it.
What's stored on our server
When a run finishes, the game sends your score to our leaderboard so it can be ranked. We store:
- your randomly generated game name and avatar (for example "Swift Otter 🦊")
- your random player ID, so your best score is shown once
- your score, the number of grids cleared, the game mode and the date
- a scrambled, one-way code made from your internet address and the date, used only to stop spam. It can't be turned back into your address and changes every day.
Names and avatars are chosen from a fixed list, so leaderboards never show anything you've typed. Scores are kept so the all-time leaderboard works. We use this information only to run the leaderboard, and we don't sell or share it.
Visit statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or track you across other websites.
Who processes the data
The website and leaderboard are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes data on our behalf.
Your choices
To have your scores removed from the leaderboard, email [email protected] with your game name and roughly when you played. You also have rights under UK data protection law, including to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
